Biography

Dissertation Title: The Urban Politics of Managing Irregular Migration in Southern Africa: Considering Local Responses in Johannesburg, South Africa and Gaborone, Botswana

Supervisor: Dr. Peter Nyers

Through a comparative empirical analysis of Johannesburg, South Africa and Gaborone, Botswana, my dissertation considers local responses to the management of irregular migrants and its effects in and on urban spaces. I examine how we understand the tensions of urban irregular migration management and what are the stakes involved.

Research Interests: migration governance; citizenship and belonging; public policy implementation; mobility politics and policy; Southern Africa; integration and accommodation; everyday international relations; urban politics; border management
