Meaningful Contributions to the Community

Internships provide undergraduate Social Sciences students the opportunity to explore careers and make meaningful contributions to the local and greater community. As a recruiting organization, you have the opportunity to influence and support student interns as they develop employability skills and expand their professional networks. About the Social Sciences Internship Program:

The Social Sciences Internship Program is a voluntary program that allows undergraduate students to actively engage in paid work opportunities and explore careers in fields related to their academic studies over a 4, 8, 12 or 16 month period in a part-time or full-time capacity.   

Internship Type Hours Per Week Recommended Start Dates
Part-time 5 - 25 September or January
Full-time 26 - 40 September or January 
Summer 5 - 40 May 

Please Note: While start dates are flexible, we strongly encourage employers to post internship opportunities the term prior to the placement start date.

How to Participate:

1. Submit a job description to Keri Long, Programming and Outreach Manager.

The position will be posted on our internal recruitment portal, OSCARplus, and promoted to eligible Social Sciences internship candidates.

Please ensure to include the following information:

  • Job title
  • Name of organization
  • Start date
  • End date
  • Hours per week
  • Rate of pay
  • List of responsibilities and qualifications
  • Application instructions

2. Review applications and confirm interview selections with the Programming and Outreach Manager.

Following the job posting deadline, you will receive an electronic PDF application bundle that will include the resumes and cover letters submitted by interested internship candidates. We would be pleased to assist you in coordinating interview schedules. Employers who prefer to contact applicants directly to schedule an interview are asked to notify the Programming and Outreach Manager as to which students have been selected.

3. Make an offer of employment to your preferred candidate.

You are welcome to contact the student directly to present an offer of employment, otherwise the Programming and Outreach Manager is available to do this on your behalf. Students have 24 business hours to either accept or decline an offer of employment.
