CityLAB Semester in Residence (SIR) is a 15-unit, community-engaged, experiential course designed for passionate, motivated, and enthusiastic students from any faculty or degree program who want to be part of making change.

The theme of the Fall 2021 course is "Who are cities made for?" Social Sciences students are well-positioned to bring valuable insight related to gender, access, housing, health, equity, aging, culture, policy, sustainability and more.

Participating in CityLAB SIR offers you an opportunity to:

  • Learn about the Hamilton community, including its challenges and opportunities
  • Apply your academic studies towards real change through working on projects brought forward by the City of Hamilton
  • Expand your personal and professional networks with City staff, community partners, and classmates from across faculties
