McMaster English Readiness For Graduate Excellence (MERGE)
MERGE is more than a language course – it’s a bridge to graduate success. This immersive program helps students strengthen their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while applying them to real-world academic contexts.
Through interactive workshops, collaborative projects, and personalized feedback, MERGE prepares students to confidently participate in seminars, write research papers, and engage with faculty and peers.
McMaster Office for the Development of English Language Learners (MODEL)
MODEL is an intensive, year-round support program for graduate students whose first language is not English.
It offers tailored instruction in academic writing, presentation skills, and research communication, helping students meet the demands of graduate-level study. MODEL also provides advising, workshops, and peer support to ensure students feel confident and connected throughout their academic journey.
