Biography

Dr. Arig al Shaibah holds a PhD in Education (Cultural and Policy Studies). Her doctoral research involved a study of the perspectives of senior-most administrators with respect to the barriers to and enablers of educational equity in higher education. Currently, Arig is the Associate Vice-President, Equity and Inclusion at McMaster University, and she holds an Adjunct faculty appointment in the Department of Sociology. Prior to arriving at McMaster, Arig held the roles of Vice-Provost (Student Affairs) and Acting Executive Director (Human Rights & Equity) at Dalhousie University, and, before that, Assistant Dean (Student Life and Learning) at Queen’s University. At Queen’s, Arig also held an Adjunct faculty appointment and taught the IDIS 302 Race and Racism course in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program, as well as the GNDS 315 Feminist Pedagogies course in the Department of Gender Studies.
