NEW Honours Political Science Specialization in Global Citizenship (B.A.)

Beginning September 2019 undergraduate Political Science students will be able to pursue a specialization in Global Citizenship which includes a term abroad or work experience / internship on a global issue.

What does it mean to be a citizen in a world where the flows of ideas, people, money, products, pollution, culture violence and disease cross state borders?  Drawing upon faculty expertise in international relations, comparative politics, public policy and political theory, this specialization is designed to prepare students to participate as active citizens in a global world.  Students will draw on a wide variety of perspectives to explore the theory and practice of subjects such as citizenship, democracy, human rights, north-south relations, economic justice and human security.  The specialization includes required courses in Globalization Studies, Political Science, a dedicated 4th year seminar and either a term / year abroad or a work experience / internship on a global citizenship topic.  Enrollment is limited to twenty-five students.  Students can apply to the specialization on Mosaic beginning April 8, 2019.

To apply to the Specialization in Global Citizenship, students must complete any Level I program with a Grade Point Average of at least 5.0 including a grade of C or greater in POLSCI 1AA3 or 1AB3. Students are also strongly encouraged to complete GLOBALZN 1A03 in Level I. As this is a limited enrollment program possession of the published minimum requirements not guarantee admission.
