Summer USRA recipients will receive $7500 over a period of 15 consecutive weeks during the Summer Term (May – August) to complete research projects as outlined in their application.

Maddie’s project will be about examining male-identified students’ perspectives of sexual violence on Canadian university campuses. She plans to draw upon media coverage to contextualize the prevalence of sexual violence on Canadian campuses and bring this into discussion with male-identified students to gain a deeper understanding of how and if they see sexual violence as an issue on their respective campuses. She hopes to draft a final report at the end of the project that could potentially be shared with the Student Wellness Centre, the Women and Gender Equity Network, the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, the Sexual Assault Centre of Hamilton, and other similar agencies that operate around university campuses across Ontario.
