May 05, 2017

Sociology doctoral candidate Alan Santinele Martino has published a review of the current literature on disabilities and sexualities in Sociology Compass. The article applies an intersectional lens to examine the unique experiences of queer people with disabilities who are located at the crossroads of various stratified systems. It examines the unique challenges that queer disabled people face when exploring their sexuality, establishing relationships, and remaining sexual. While the literature on disabilities and sexualities is growing, the article outlines considers new opportunities for empirical and theoretical sociological exploration.
