Associate Dean, Grad Studies and Research, of Faculty of Social Sciences | Associate Professor

James provides leadership and coordination of the research support team. He is well-known for his research on human animal relationships; sport, leisure and recreation; mental health and well-being; media and communications; perspectives on living with health and illness across the life course; and inquiry as an approach to education and learning.

Research Support Facilitator

Cynthia works with Social Sciences researchers to move knowledge between university and community and to support grant development. Cynthia works to facilitate connections between researchers, community or industry partners, and to relevant McMaster offices (including ROADS, office of VP research, MILO). She can also assist researchers with proposal development by facilitating communication with partners and assisting with project and budget planning, providing tools and early-stage writing support to help researchers draft proposals and knowledge mobilization plans, assisting with revisions based on feedback from the ROADS Senior Advisor.

Research Administration Analyst

With experience in preparing applications for a range of grants and awards (SSHRC, CIHR, IDRC, HEQCO, MITACS, OHTN, LACREG, Killam), Chris can: manage the online grant application process (particularly for institutional and partnership grants); assist with preparation of academic curriculum vitae for various applications; and, assist with preparation of budget and budget justifications.
