Undergraduate Courses Spring 2025

Course Delivery Options

We offer two flexible delivery options to suit your learning preferences and schedule. You can see the type of delivery for each course listed above its description.

Online

Fully online and asynchronous.

You are not required to log on at a specific time, but must keep up with the weekly schedule of content found on your course site.

Virtual

Virtual classes are held live at the same time and day each week in the Eastern Time Zone (ET).

Most sessions consist of a full 3 hours of live instruction. Instructors use the weekly class time to present new content, review previous material, and provide opportunities to apply concepts through various exercises.

SOCSCI 2EL3: Career Preparation in the Social Sciences Learn More About SOCSCI 2EL3

Online

Students will explore career options and analyze contemporary labour market information relevant to Social Sciences students.

They will identify and articulate the skills acquired through academics and extracurricular experiences in order to develop job search strategies and job search materials such as resumés, cover letters, and networking profiles.

Students will prepare for the transition to the workplace by examining evolving expectations and norms in contemporary professional settings.

SOCSCI 2FD3: Foundations of Disabilities

This course examines the major disabilities within Canadian culture including physical, developmental, organic, acute, chronic, and acquired disabilities.

There will be a focus on the symptoms associated with each disability with special attention to the relationship each disability may or may not have to mental illness.

An introduction to basic statistical concepts and their application to the analysis of data from the social sciences. The use of spreadsheets is emphasized.

WORKLABR 1A03: An Introduction to Work and Labour in Canada View Work and Labour Studies Course Outlines

This course takes a historical approach to introducing students to the field of Labour Studies. It will show how the nature of work has been transformed repeatedly transformed over time, and how workers have organized in response to those changes.

The course will also explore how the day-to-day lives of workers in different settings and time periods were affected by changing political landscapes and social forces such as race, immigration, and gender.
