Applying for a Level II Program: Important Updates
Level II Selection Dates: April 3 – April 29, 2025
Drop-in Advising Hours: The Faculty of Social Sciences will hold drop-in advising hours in Kenneth Taylor Hall (KTH) 129 for Level II program questions from 1:00 – 4:00PM on the following dates: April 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, and 29, 2025.
Students in Economics I and Health & Society I must apply for their chosen Level II program. You can apply within your department or for other programs where you meet the requirements.
When the Program Application is closed, the page will display, “The Selection Period is not open at this time. Please contact your faculty for more assistance.” This message will appear even if options were successfully entered and saved before the application closed.
Navigating Level II Program Selection
Social Sciences I is your gateway to a degree in Social Sciences. In your first year, we recommend selecting three to six units of courses from different disciplines to broaden your options for Level II programs.
Remember, you can only be placed in programs where you meet the requirements. Your current program is always viewable through: MOSAIC > Student Centre > My Academics.
Tips for Application
Enter your options as soon as possible.
You can change your choices after saving as long as the application is open.
Print the page when you save your options to keep a record.
Program Options
- Social Science Honours Arts: 4-year honours program options.
- Social Science Bach. Arts: 3-year BA program options.
- Level 1 Programs: Not available to students eligible for Level II.

In May, your options will be assessed based on what you entered and saved before the application closed.
Be patient until program changes are released according to the Registrar’s Dates & Deadlines.
Level II Undergraduate Program Admission Requirements
- Level I Social Sciences students completing at least 24 units can meet admission requirements for Level II.
- Honours Academic Plans: Minimum of 5.0 (C) in introductory courses and a GPA of at least 5.0 (C).
- BA Academic Plans: Minimum of 4.0 (C-) in introductory courses and a GPA of at least 3.5 (C-).
- Combined Honours Programs: Must meet entry requirements for each relevant program.
- Limited Enrolment Plans: Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
Step One: Level I Course Selection & Program Types
We recommend taking classes in various subjects to explore options and keep them open for Level II selection.
Ensure that you review the admission requirements for your preferred Level II program.
Honours Programs
Four year programs designed for graduate-level study preparation.
Require a minimum 5.0 GPA.
BA Programs
Three year programs not designed for graduate-level study.
Require a minimum 3.5 GPA.
Co-op Option Visit the Social Sciences Co-op website
Requires the same courses as Honours programs plus an additional application and interview.
Limited Enrolment Programs
Have a limited number of seats. Aim for an average above the minimum required to be competitive.
Step Two: Apply to Level II Academic Plans on Mosaic (April 3 – April 29, 2025)
How to Apply
- Use your MacID to log on to Mosaic.
- Click the ‘Student Centre’ tab.
- Click the ‘My Academics’ link.
- Click the ‘Program/Plan Application’ link.
- Choose your desired Academic Plans, ranking your choices one through four. You will be placed in the highest-ranked program where you meet the requirements and there is space.

For students considering Honours Social Work (BSW), submit a separate application directly to the School of Social Work by February 1.
Social Work Application Reminder
If you have not submitted the supplementary application and are not scheduled to write the SWAT, do not choose the Honours Social Work Academic Plan on Mosaic.
Rank Limited Programs First
Rank limited enrolment Program Plans (Health and Society, Aging and Society, Labour Studies, Social Work, Social Psychology, and Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour) as your top (first) choices.
Prioritize Honours Over BA
Rank Honours Program plans ahead of three-year BA Program Plans.
Step Three: Verify Your Program Choices on Mosaic
While the Program Application is open, you can view your entered Academic Plan by logging into Mosaic, clicking on the “My Academics” link, and referring to your “My Program” tab. Once the application closes, you will no longer see this information, so take a screenshot for reference.
Expect to receive your program decisions starting in early June.
Common Questions
How many programs can I select?
Students can select up to four programs.
Can I change my programs/ranking after initially selecting them?
Yes, you can change your options anytime while the application is open.
How are students placed in their chosen programs?
You will be placed in the first program on your list where you meet the requirements and there is space.
What happens to the programs listed after the one you are placed in?
Programs listed after your placement will be ignored.
Why should I choose four different options?
Choosing four different program options ensures you have backup choices.
We recommend making your final option a BA program.
