Social Science researchers awarded $1.1 million in funding

Researchers from across the Faculty of Social Sciences have attracted more than a million dollars in grant funding.

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) announced in September 2024 that it had awarded funding to 13 projects to the tune of $1,117,638.

The faculty’s success rate for the Insight Grants was 42 per cent, compared to the national average of 34 per cent. Similarly, the faculty’s success rate for Insight Development Grants was 64 per cent, compared the national average of 43 per cent.

• Celia E. Rothenberg, Religious Studies: Canada’s Holocaust Torahs: Contemporary Judaism, Holocaust remembrance, and antisemitism ($115,435)
• Jonathan Zhang, Economics: Economic impacts of newborn exposure to maternal opioid use ($96,736)
