Sociology Professor Vic Satzewich wins Lifetime Achievement Award from Canadian Ethnic Studies Association
Vic Satzewich, professor in the department of Sociology, has won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Ethnic Studies Association (CESA).
The Lifetime Achievement Award was established by the Canadian Ethnic Studies Association in 2001 in order to recognize outstanding career-long contributions to ethnic studies. Past recipients include Jean Burnet, Howard Palmer, Raymond Breton, Peter Li and Augie Fleras.
“It is really gratifying to be recognized by one’s peers,” said Satzewich. “The Canadian Ethnic Studies Association has been an important part of my career, extending all the way back to my first conference presentation at the Association’s 1985 meeting”
The Association is a big tent that brings together a diverse group of students, junior and senior scholars interested in a wide variety of topics relating to ethnic and racial studies, immigration and Indigenous settler relations.
“Its journal, conferences and the wide range of scholars who are part of the Association have been a constant source of support for me, and for many others who work in these fields,” said Satzewich.
