Q&A with Luke Moscardini, Social Sciences’ new Well-being Ambassador
Luke Moscardini, Faculty HR Coordinator, along with Jessica Bouchard, Program Administrator in Social Psychology, have been named our Faculty’s Well-being Ambassadors.
We caught up with Luke to chat about their appointment and what it could mean for the faculty.
Hi Luke, what made you interested in the well-being ambassador program?
For me personally, I wanted to provide some leadership and “give back” to the Social Sciences’ faculty, where I was once an undergraduate student. Now being in HR, I understand how important it is to prioritize work-life balance, promote and role model healthy behaviours, and to prevent burnout in the workplace/at home for all staff/faculty/ students in Social Sciences.
What does the position entail?
Jessica and I have participated in two well-being training sessions hosted by Kyle Armstrong (Workplace, Health, and Well-being HR Team) and are currently in the process of completing the Professor Hippo and the Working Mind Mental Health Training programs. As McMaster Well-being Ambassador’s, we are hoping to encourage participation in team building activities/ wellness opportunities and are collaborating with Central HR Services on how to plan and execute them successfully.
What can staff and faculty expect from the program?
The Workplace Health and Well-being program offers needs-based programming for McMaster employees, focusing on employee experience, learning & growth, and health & well-being, while modelling a psychologically safe work environment. Thus, we have already started to plan/brainstorm ideas’ and are hoping to rollout a team building activity/ wellness opportunity as early as this summer. We hope that all staff/ student’s/ faculty will participate in this upcoming opportunity. More details are on the way!
